From cancer to a cookie business, now how many people can say that? What started as just an idea during my chemo has grown into something much bigger than my mom and I ever expected – an exceptional cookie company with a message of love and survival at it’s heart. I’m Susan and my mom, Laura, and I co-founded Susansnaps. At 22, a week before my college graduation, my life took an unexpected turn . I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the same cancer my Aunt Susan (whom I’m named for) died from at 28. My Dad and I even with through chemo within the same year and, at times, along side each other. Seeing the two of us hooked up to IVs simultaneously was almost more than my mom could bear. Hearing ginger is a stomach soother and homemade cookies always bring smiles, my mom created a recipe for gingersnaps, coined “Susansnaps.” A delicious gift that showed Mom cared, and it worked! I shared with my fellow cancer buddies and saw their happiness. Neighbors, family and friends started hearing about our unique gingersnaps, and Susansnaps was founded!
